By AR - Last year it was Kevin07 front man Kevin Rudd who, when asked to describe the election challenge ahead of him, repeatedly said, "As I've always said, (it's) a bit like climbing Everest." A real Everest conqueror, Sir Edmund Hillary, died recently leaving open a position in the Order of the Garter, the most senior and oldest British Order of Chivalry. The Sunday Telegraph reports:
FORMER prime minister John Howard is reportedly in line to join one of Britain's most prestigious orders, with speculation mounting that he has been selected for a knighthood by Queen Elizabeth. If the reports are true, the Order will be recognition for Howard's public service in holding office and his inestimable contribution to the nation. I'm not a huge fan of knighthoods, the way they are handed out to minstrels and so on, but this knighthood has my full support - if only to cause apoplexy in a large section of the leftard community.
