A solicitor who represented three of the 21/7 London bombers may face prosecution after she was accused in court of trying to bribe a fourth defendant to change his alibi.

Mudassar Arani, 43, allegedly sent £600 to Manfo Kwaku Asiedu while he was on remand in Belmarsh prison together with a card which she signed with 'lots of love'.

It was said to have been part of a plan to get all of the defendants to switch to her law firm to make sure they all told the same story.

The accusation was made in March by Stephen Kamlish QC, representing Asiedu.

The Solicitors' Regulation Authority has cleared Miss Arani over the allegations that she poached some of the 21/7 defendants from other law firms. The allegations of bribery are likely to be the subject of a fresh inquiry.

Miss Arani, whose firm has made more than £1million in legal aid by representing extremists including Abu Hamza, could be charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice. The maximum sentence is life imprisonment.
